Working as part of an experienced project team, you need to be a motivated and practical safety professional with strong construction knowledge and the ability to build positive relationships with project teams and subcontractors. You will demonstrate your professional ability in:
- Providing practical WHS advice and support on Tier 1 or Tier 2 commercial or industrial construction projects;
- Experience working on food & beverage, manufacturing or industrial construction projects valued between $30M–$80M;
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of project WHS plans, systems and procedures;
- Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments and monitoring corrective actions;
- Reviewing SWMS, high-risk construction activities and subcontractor safety documentation;
- Working closely with Site Managers, Foremen and subcontractors to identify and manage project risks;
- Supporting incident and near-miss reporting, investigations and corrective actions;
- Facilitating site inductions, toolbox talks and safety communications;
- Monitoring subcontractor compliance with project and legislative WHS requirements;
- Maintaining project safety records, registers, reporting and documentation;
- Providing coaching and practical safety guidance to project teams and subcontractors;
- Supporting a positive, proactive and collaborative safety culture across the project;
- Understanding current WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and construction industry requirements;
- Working within externally and FSC accredited systems.
A relevant qualification in Work Health & Safety, such as a Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS, is required, together with demonstrated experience in a site-based construction safety role. A Construction White Card and strong knowledge of construction safety requirements are essential. Experience working within commercial, industrial or food & beverage construction will be highly regarded. A legal entitlement to work in Australia is essential.
