Project Scheduling Engineer

We are seeking a Project Scheduling Engineer to support complex technical projects through detailed scheduling, budget tracking, and performance analysis. This role works closely with engineers and technical leaders to keep project plans accurate and identify issues that could affect delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
• Add labor hours, rates, materials, and equipment estimates to schedules to support project budgets.
• Track progress against schedule and cost baselines.
• Analyze dependencies, critical paths, and cost or schedule variances.
• Work with technical teams to gather updates, identify risks, and develop recovery plans.
• Prepare regular reports on project progress, costs, and earned value performance.

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience creating, maintaining, and reporting detailed project schedules.
• Experience using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or comparable scheduling software.
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
• Experience with resource planning, cost estimating, budgeting, or project performance tracking.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work calmly with diverse technical teams.
• Interest in learning new software and contributing in a project support role.
• A relevant degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience

• Resource loaded schedules and time phased budgets.
• Earned value management and Deltek Cobra.
• Government funded projects or DOE, DOD, or NSF requirements.
• Complex projects in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, construction, or similar environments.
• Candidates with at least five years of scheduling experience and greater independent responsibility may be considered for the higher level opening.
