Project Site Engineer (Civil Engineer)

TIPICON Engineering Innovations is looking for a hands-on Site Engineer who can convert construction plans into organized daily execution and maintain clear, proactive communication between the project site and the office.

This is not a passive monitoring role. The Site Engineer must lead site activities, anticipate problems, exercise practical judgment within authorized limits, and escalate critical issues before they result in delays, equipment damage, rework, safety risks, or additional costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily work plans and practical two- to three-day look-ahead schedules based on approved plans, specifications, manpower, materials, equipment, and project targets.
• Direct and coordinate foremen, workers, equipment operators, subcontractors, deliveries, and other site resources.
• Ensure that construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
• Measure and report actual accomplishments according to exact quantities and work locations.
• Compare planned versus actual progress, explain delays or variances, and recommend recovery actions.
• Submit complete and accurate daily site reports covering:
• Manpower and attendance
• Exact work accomplishments and locations
• Materials received and used
• Equipment and vehicle status
• Delays, defects, shortages, and other issues
• Required photographs and supporting evidence
• Next-day work and resource plan
• Provide management updates stating:
• Action taken
• Actual result
• Next action
• Committed completion date or time
• Blocker or assistance required
• Immediately report equipment breakdowns, unsafe conditions, material shortages, quality defects, fuel or asset discrepancies, incidents, and schedule risks.
• Check the readiness and condition of equipment and vehicles assigned to the site and coordinate prompt corrective action.
• Track requests, deliveries, shortages, approvals, and unresolved issues until they are completed or formally turned over.
• Exercise resourcefulness and sound judgment in resolving routine site problems while seeking approval before making commitments outside the position’s authority.
• Maintain active and professional communication with the Project Manager and office without requiring repeated follow-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least two years of hands-on construction-site experience is preferred.
• A valid PRC Civil Engineer license is an advantage.
• Knowledge of construction drawings, quantity measurement, work planning, scheduling, BOQ/SWA monitoring, QA/QC, safety, materials, and equipment coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino. Cebuano communication ability is an advantage.
• Comfortable using smartphones, computers, spreadsheets, photographs, messaging applications, and digital reporting systems.
• Proactive, resourceful, organized, and capable of making reasonable field decisions.
• Willing to work full-time at active project sites and accept field or remote assignments when required.
• Must demonstrate honesty, accountability, follow-through, and proper care of company equipment and project records.

What Good Performance Looks Like

• Management receives accurate site information without repeatedly requesting updates.
• Problems are identified and reported early, together with immediate actions and recommended solutions.
• Daily reports are complete, quantified, properly supported, and useful for management decisions.
• Manpower, materials, equipment, and activities are organized around measurable daily targets.
• Site issues are followed through until resolved or properly escalated.
• The following day’s activities and resource requirements are planned before the current workday ends.

Practical Assessment

Shortlisted applicants will complete a practical examination involving a simulated construction-site situation. The assessment may require the applicant to:

• Prepare an immediate escalation message.
• Produce a concise management update.
• Create a next-day manpower, material, and equipment plan.
• Calculate planned-versus-actual accomplishment.
• Recommend practical corrective actions.
• Identify which matters may be handled by the Site Engineer and which require management approval.
• Present a short verbal briefing.

The assessment will evaluate communication, initiative, judgment, technical reasoning, planning, quantitative accuracy, and resourcefulness.
