Construction Superintendent
JW Grand, LLC — South Louisiana
Full-time | On-site | Travel across South Louisiana
Open at two levels: Superintendent and Senior Superintendent
Pay: $65,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience and level
Vehicle or truck allowance, phone, and standard benefits.
About the company
JW Grand is a Baton Rouge general contractor founded in 1975. We build industrial and commercial work across South Louisiana — plants, education, healthcare, ground-up jobs, and renovations. Safety is how we work, not a checkbox. The superintendent owns the field on assigned work.
The job
We are hiring field leadership at more than one experience level. Assignment depends on what you have actually run. Work is based out of Baton Rouge and runs across South Louisiana.
- Superintendent: Self-perform renovations, typically $50,000 to $500,000, leading our own craftsmen. You plan the day, run the crew, and finish punch-ready work. Senior field leadership and the office back you up. You still run the job.
- Senior Superintendent: Larger commercial and industrial work, including multi-trade jobs and more complex renovations, generally in the $1 million to $10 million range. You own schedule, quality, safety, subcontractors, and closeout. You may also mentor a less experienced superintendent.
Both levels work in commercial spaces and inside industrial facilities. Plant access credentials and site training are part of the job.
What you will do
- Run daily field operations on assigned jobs from mobilization through punch
- Lead company craftsmen and, on larger work, coordinate subcontractors
- Read drawings, walk existing conditions, and catch conflicts before they cost money
- Keep a look-ahead; get labor, materials, tools, and inspections in front of the work
- Protect occupied buildings and operating facilities: dust, noise, access, and owner operations
- Enforce OSHA, company, and owner/site rules; lead huddles and JHAs
- Write daily reports with photos; document extra work and delays
- Coordinate inspections and close punch lists
- Call the office early when the plan, the building, or the owner changes
- Complete required site access training before mobilizing to a facility
Must have — both levels
- Time supervising people in the field, not only working as a craftsman
- Hands-on construction background and the ability to read plans and run work from them
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Ability to work jobs across South Louisiana
- TWIC card and Security Passport, or the ability to obtain both before or immediately after hire
- Willingness to complete Basic Orientation Plus at the Safety Council, plus any site-specific training required by the facility we are working in
- Clear communication, daily reporting, and the habit of finishing what you start
Superintendent
- 1+ years supervising in the field (lead, foreman, assistant superintendent, or working superintendent)
- Renovation or finish experience — carpentry, interiors, or similar self-perform work
- Comfortable leading a small crew of 2–8 craftsmen
- OSHA 30 is a plus
Senior Superintendent
- 7+ years running work as a superintendent
- Proven commercial and/or industrial jobs, including ground-up and renovation
- Experience on multi-trade work in the roughly $1 million to $10 million range
- Can manage subcontractors, schedule, and field cost without being walked through it
- OSHA 30 is a plus; expected if you have been running larger sites
Strong plus — both levels
- South Louisiana or Gulf Coast experience
- Occupied-building or operating-plant work
- Material takeoffs and ordering
- Already holds TWIC, Security Passport, and Basic Orientation Plus
- Solid phone / Excel reporting habits
How we work
This is a lean GC. You will not have a large staff standing behind you. Some days you are in the work with the crew. Some days you are coordinating trades and owners. Planning tomorrow’s work today matters more than sitting in a trailer. Do the smaller work well and there is a path onto larger JW Grand projects.
Schedule and travel
Headquarters is in Baton Rouge. Jobsites are across South Louisiana. Expect early starts, time on the road, occasional weekends, and overnight stays when the job is too far for a daily drive. Industrial sites will require their own orientation and badging before you go to work.
To apply
Email a resume to [email protected] with the subject line Superintendent — [Your Name]. In a few sentences, say which level you are applying for and list the last jobs you ran or helped run: type of work, size if you know it, how many people you supervised, and what you were responsible for.
JW Grand is an equal opportunity employer.
