Project/Launch Engineer - Automotive

About the Role

As a Project Lead, you will coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver manufacturing and product launch projects on time, within scope, and aligned with the company’s global standards.

This role requires strong collaboration, communication, and coordination skills, along with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Project & Launch Management

  • Support RFQ activities by evaluating manufacturing requirements, capacity, equipment, tooling, and resource needs to develop accurate cost estimates and launch plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide manufacturing inputs for quotation preparation, investment planning, and business case evaluations
  • Lead industrial launch activities for product transfers, new product introductions, localization projects, and capacity expansions.
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, milestones, risks, and resources from BOM release to SOP.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Logistics, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Finance.
  • Monitor project progress and drive actions to ensure on-time and successful launches.

• Manufacturing Readiness

  • Review released BOMs and ensure manufacturing readiness for production launch.
  • Coordinate development and validation of production processes, MRP completion, routing, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure tooling, fixtures, equipment, production lines, and plant infrastructure are ready for launch.
  • Support capacity planning and production ramp-up activities.

• (TOW) Production Transfer Management

  • Manage transfer of products, tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes from existing plants.
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer, process replication, validation activities, and readiness approvals.
  • Lead transfer builds, trials, and manufacturing capability assessments to ensure a smooth transition.

• Validation & Stage Gate Management

  • Lead pilot builds, engineering builds, pre-production trials, and process validation activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all factory stage-gate reviews.
  • Track open issues, ensure closure of action items, and secure required approvals before gate progression.
  • Present project readiness status and escalation risks to management.

• Supply Chain & Material Readiness

  • Ensure material availability for prototypes, pilots, and production builds.
  • Coordinate supplier readiness, packaging validation, logistics flows, and inventory planning.
  • Identify and mitigate supply-related launch risks.
  • Track MRP readiness

• General

  • Ensure full compliance with customer-specific requirements by integrating customer quality standards into daily operations to consistently meet and support customer objectives.
  • Ensure full compliance with EHS requirements by implementing and adhering to established policies, procedures, and objectives to maintain a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience in Program/Project/Launch Engineer 7 - 10 years in automotive/ electronic automotive manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing and industrialization processes, with the ability to drive manufacturing readiness from product release through Start of Production (SOP).
• Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and SPC, enabling effective launch planning, risk identification, and production validation.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across manufacturing, quality, engineering, supply chain, and operations to achieve launch milestones and project objectives.
• Good communication skill both Thai and English.
• Ability to work onsite at Rojana Industrial Estate Laemchabang.
