Property Accountant

Firm: Real Estate PE Firm

Location: Fairfield County, CT

Responsibilities Include:

• Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and reports for real estate properties
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and property accounts
• Update supporting workpaper schedules that detail out the key financial statement line items for financial statement preparation
• Maintain records for leases, rent payments, and property expense payments and accruals
• Prepare and post journal entries related to real estate transactions, including cash and accrual basis entries
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing and compiling financial statement support for auditors, tax preparers and lender reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1-3 years of accounting experience (prior experience in real estate accounting preferred, but not required)
• Basic knowledge of GAAP accrual concepts and real estate accounting principles
• Proficiency in real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar)
