What they need
Job Title: Part-Time Property Maintenance Handyman – Self-Employed (Own Van & Tools) – Luton & Dunstable
Pay: £20.00 per hour
Job Type: Part-time, Self-employed
Location: Luton & Dunstable (on-site across our properties)
About Us
We are an established property company with a portfolio of 50 residential units across Luton and Dunstable. We take pride in keeping our properties to a high standard and giving our tenants a fast, reliable and professional maintenance service.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced, reliable handyman to take care of the day-to-day maintenance and repairs across our portfolio. You'll be the person our tenants see when something needs fixing, so a professional, friendly manner is just as important as the quality of your work.
Typical work includes reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and refreshing units between tenancies.
What We're Looking For
Experience across a range of trades, including:
- Carpentry (doors, locks, fittings, repairs)
- Plumbing (leaks, taps, toilets, basic fault finding)
- Basic electrical work (within your competence and regulations)
- Plastering and patch repairs
- Tiling (floors and walls)
- Painting and decorating
- Floor installation (carpet and lino)
- Kitchen and bathroom installation and repair
You will also have:
- A minimum of 5 years' property maintenance experience
- Your own van (essential, not a car) and a full set of your own tools
- A full UK driving licence
- Experience working in occupied homes, with respect for tenants and their property
- A high standard of finish and attention to detail
- The ability to diagnose problems, work independently and use your initiative
- Good communication and timekeeping
- Public liability insurance (preferred)
Formal qualifications are useful but not essential. We value proven experience over paperwork. A CSCS card is an advantage but not required.
Working Arrangements
- Part-time, with days agreed to suit both parties
- Working window of 9:30am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Self-employed, £20 per hour
- Hours are recorded via our clock-in system and paid monthly on invoice
- Performance bonus available
What We Offer
- Steady, ongoing work across a compact portfolio in Luton and Dunstable
- Clear, fair hourly rate with hours accurately tracked
- Straightforward, supportive management
- Long-term opportunity for the right person
