Transform the everyday with us!

Take your first step into an exciting field service career with Siemens, a global leader in power protection and automation.

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Power Protection & Automation Production Technician Development Training Program (PPA PTDP) beginning January 4, 2027.

Program Overview:

The Protection & Automation Production Technician Development Program (PPA PTDP) provides a one-year, hands-on training experience inside Siemens’ Panel Assembly Workshop (PAWS) in Wendell, NC, the facility that builds Industrial Control Panels (ICPs) used in automation and protection systems for electrical substations across North America.

You’ll develop a strong foundation in Protection & Automation fundamentals, panel assembly, wiring, quality testing, Siemens Power Academy coursework, safety, and on-the-job mentoring, with additional field experience supporting installation, troubleshooting, FATs, and SATs on real customer projects.

The program includes:

  • Phase 1: Hands-on training in panel assembly, electrical components, wiring, schematics, safety, and quality standards.
  • Phase 2: Quality testing and verification, including wiring inspections, continuity testing, fiber optics, Ethernet communications, and support of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Phase 3: Protection relay preparation, firmware loading, configuration, and bench verification.
  • Phase 4: Field service rotation supporting customer projects, including installation, wiring modifications, component replacement, troubleshooting, repairs, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

Throughout the program, you will work alongside experienced Siemens technicians and engineers supporting utilities, data centers, manufacturing facilities, renewable energy projects, and other critical power infrastructure.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Building, wiring, and testing Protection & Automation control panels.
  • Installing, replacing, and troubleshooting electrical and automation components.
  • Performing wiring modifications, rewiring, and equipment repairs.
  • Reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities.
  • Following Siemens and customer safety, quality, and site requirements.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems Technology, Electronics, Electromechanical Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Passion for innovation, hands-on technical work, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • In your final year or approaching graduation (eligible to work full-time during the summer, and at least 30 hours/week during the semester).
  • Willingness to travel extensively, up to 10 weeks per year, including Monday–Friday travel to customer sites across the United States and occasional Sunday travel.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or nonstandard schedules based on project needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis.
