What they need

Western Family Practice brings together GP care, pregnancy care and allied health under one roof, supporting individuals and families through family planning, pregnancy, early parenthood, and life beyond it. They say it takes a village, at Western Family Practice, we’ve got one ready. Our model is designed to provide continuity across each stage, with a team that works together and understands individual needs and care as a whole.

We are now looking to expand our psychological capability with a permanent part-time position. This role will play an integral part of our allied health team, ensuring high quality, holistic care for patients. This is a diverse role that blends one on one sessions with group and wellbeing program delivery.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions for individuals and families.
  • Deliver counselling and therapy services to patients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, adjustment issues, or perinatal mental health concerns.
  • Develop treatment and care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and legislative requirements.
  • Provide consultation and support to clinical staff regarding patient mental health concerns.
  • Facilitate patient education and wellbeing programs (e.g. stress management, parenting support, coping strategies).
  • Contribute to staff training sessions on mental health awareness and psychosocial risk factors.
  • Assist in the development of patient resources and support materials.

Requirements:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Psychologist
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical psychology experience
  • Experience in perinatal mental health or women's health preferred
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapies (CBT, ACT, or similar)
  • Experience with perinatal mental health assessments and interventions

We believe in personalised care, with regular screenings to identify and address any needs early. Patients are actively involved in every decision, supported with clear information and the opportunity to choose the care model that best suits their preferences.
