Self-Employed Pub Manager – The Lion, Kenilworth

Live-in accommodation | Earnings based on a percentage of net sales

We’re looking for an experienced, motivated pub manager to take the lead at The Lion in Kenilworth and help this high-street pub reach its full potential.

The Lion is predominantly a wet-led business, showing live sport and hosting weekend entertainment. There is currently no food offering, but there is scope to explore introducing one alongside growing the existing drinks trade.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with personality, commercial drive and a passion for running a great local pub.

The opportunity

You’ll run the pub on a self-employed basis, earning an agreed percentage of net sales. Your focus will be on building trade, managing your team and creating a welcoming pub that customers return to.

We cover:

• Stock and the pub’s operating bills, excluding council tax.
• Live-in accommodation.

You are responsible for:

• Recruiting, managing and paying your own team.
• Council tax.

The percentage of net sales and full agreement terms will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Your responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day running of the pub and deliver excellent customer service.
• Recruit, train and manage a reliable, enthusiastic team.
• Grow sales through live sport, weekend entertainment, events and local promotions.
• Build strong relationships with regulars, local businesses and the wider community.
• Keep the pub clean, welcoming and well presented.
• Manage stock, reduce wastage and maintain high operating standards.
• Ensure licensing, health and safety, and other operational requirements are met.
• Promote the pub through social media and local marketing.
• Work with us to explore the potential for a future food offering.

Who we’re looking for

• Previous experience managing a pub or bar, ideally in a wet-led business.
• A confident, hands-on leader who enjoys being behind the bar and engaging with customers.
• Experience driving trade through sport, entertainment and events.
• Strong team management, organisational and commercial skills.
• The ambition to build the business and increase your earning potential.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
