Purchase Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate suitable suppliers and vendors based on quality, price, delivery, and reliability.
• Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers.
• Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely processing of procurement requirements.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Stores, Accounts, and other departments for procurement requirements.
• Ensure materials and equipment are purchased as per approved specifications and project requirements.
• Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery of materials.
• Monitor purchase orders, delivery schedules, and pending procurement items.
• Evaluate supplier performance and maintain an updated vendor database.
• Verify technical and commercial aspects of quotations in coordination with relevant departments.
• Assist in identifying cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities.
• Ensure proper documentation of purchase orders, quotations, invoices, and related records.
• Resolve issues related to material shortages, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
• Prepare regular procurement status reports for management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or relevant Engineering discipline.
• Relevant experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in the construction, MEP, engineering, or infrastructure industry.
• Good knowledge of materials, equipment, specifications, and vendor management.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and coordination skills.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple purchase requirements and meet deadlines.
