Purchase Engineer

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase / Procurement Engineer to manage procurement activities for raw materials, components, equipment and services. The ideal candidate should have experience in pharmaceutical machinery, automation, process equipment or engineering/manufacturing industries and possess strong vendor management, negotiation and coordination skills.

Qualification:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical, Electrical or a related field.
• Experience in Purchase / Procurement in pharmaceutical machinery, automation, process equipment or engineering manufacturing is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle purchase requisitions and procurement of raw materials, components, equipment and services as per company requirements.
• Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials.
• Work on the company ERP system for purchase orders, inventory tracking, procurement records and reports.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors and suppliers.
• Conduct market research, vendor analysis and price comparisons to identify cost-effective suppliers.
• Negotiate with vendors regarding price, quality, delivery timelines and payment terms.
• Monitor purchase orders and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
• Monitor market trends and conduct cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare and maintain purchase records, price lists, vendor details, quotations and vendor agreements.
• Coordinate with Production, Projects, Design, Stores, Accounts and other departments for procurement requirements.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with applicable company policies, laws, regulations and ethical standards.
• Monitor vendor performance with respect to quality, cost and delivery and take necessary corrective actions.
• Analyse procurement data and prepare reports related to purchase performance, cost and budget adherence.
• Support inventory planning and ensure availability of required materials as per project and production requirements.
• Identify potential supply chain risks and coordinate with vendors to avoid delays or disruptions.
• Participate in budget planning and support cost reduction and cost management initiatives.
• Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes for better efficiency.
• Stay updated with industry trends, new suppliers, materials, technologies and procurement best practices.
• Maintain proper documentation and records related to all procurement activities.
