Purchase Engineer

Job Summary: -

We are looking for a result-oriented and experienced Senior Purchase Engineer to manage procurement activities for our manufacturing operations. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, engineering components, machine parts, consumables, and other production-related materials at competitive prices while ensuring quality, timely delivery, and cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate should have strong negotiation skills, good knowledge of vendor development, inventory management, purchase planning, and supply chain coordination.

Key Responsibilities: -

1. Procurement and Purchase Management

• Manage end-to-end purchasing activities for raw materials, components, spare parts, consumables, and other manufacturing requirements.
• Prepare and process purchase orders (POs) as per approved purchase requisitions.
• Ensure timely procurement of materials to support uninterrupted production.
• Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers for timely deliveries.

2. Vendor Development and Management

• Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors and suppliers.
• Conduct vendor assessments based on price, quality, delivery performance, and reliability.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
• Coordinate with suppliers for quotations, samples, technical specifications, and commercial terms.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
• Compare quotations and prepare comparative statements for management approval.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing, bulk purchasing, and supplier negotiations.

Required Skills: -

• Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
• Ability to analyze quotations, compare prices, and evaluate commercial terms.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, material specifications, and BOMs.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems or other manufacturing ERP software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.

Experience: - 5–8 Years (preferred)

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in engineering, automotive, fabrication, machinery, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
• Knowledge of raw materials, standard hardware, fasteners, bearings, machining parts, and industrial consumables.
• Experience in supplier development, cost optimization, and procurement process improvement.

Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
