Purchase Engineer - EPC Project - Power Transmission

Job Title: Procurement Engineer, EPC Power Transmission (UG Cable Projects)

Job Purpose
Manage the end-to-end procurement of materials for EPC power transmission and underground (UG) cable projects. This includes sourcing, vendor negotiation, ordering and delivery follow-up, so that materials arrive on time, within budget and to specification for project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure HT/LT items, cables, cable accessories, poles, transformers, fabricated steel structures, FSP, MSPI, RMU, feeders and pillars as per project requirements
• Review material requisitions, technical specifications, drawings and BOQs, and raise enquiries to approved vendors
• Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements and negotiate price, delivery and commercial terms
• Issue purchase orders and track them through to delivery
• Coordinate with project, site, design, quality and stores teams on material needs, schedules and technical clarifications
• Follow up with vendors on production, inspection and dispatch, and arrange inspection and approvals where required
• Develop and maintain a vendor base, and evaluate vendors on quality, price and delivery performance
• Ensure materials meet client specifications, utility standards and approved vendor lists
• Track material status, delivery schedules and pending orders, and report to management
• Maintain procurement records, PO documentation, GRN reconciliation and vendor payment follow-up with accounts
• Monitor market price trends for cables, steel and transformers, and identify cost savings

Required Skills and Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical,
• 2-4 years of procurement experience in EPC, power transmission or distribution, or UG cable projects
• Working knowledge of HT/LT cables, joints and terminations, transformers, RMUs, feeder pillars and fabricated steel structures
• Ability to read technical specifications, datasheets and BOQs
• Strong negotiation, vendor management and follow-up skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/SAP or a similar system
• Good communication and coordination skills

Preferred

• Experience with utility or discom projects, such as Mumbai or Maharashtra distribution and transmission work
• Familiarity with vendor approval, inspection and quality-clearance processes
• Knowledge of GST, freight, logistics and import/export basics

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
