What they need

Absolutely. For a Purchase Executive specifically working in a Concrete/RMC Plant, I would keep the JD practical and focused on cement, aggregates, sand, admixtures, fuel, consumables, vendor coordination, and plant requirements.

Job Description – Purchase Executive (Concrete Plant)

Department: Purchase / Procurement
Designation: Purchase Executive
Industry: Ready Mix Concrete / Construction
Experience: 2–5 Years
Reporting To: Purchase Manager / Plant Head
Location: [Location]

Job Summary

The Purchase Executive will be responsible for procuring raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and other items required for the smooth and uninterrupted operation of the concrete/RMC plant. The role involves vendor coordination, quotation comparison, price negotiation, purchase order processing, delivery follow-up, inventory coordination, and maintaining purchase records.

Key Responsibilities

1. Raw Material Procurement

  • Arrange timely procurement of concrete plant raw materials such as:
  • Cement
  • Sand / M-Sand
  • Coarse Aggregates
  • Fly Ash / GGBS
  • Admixtures
  • Other concrete additives as required
  • Coordinate with suppliers according to daily/weekly plant requirements.
  • Ensure continuous availability of critical materials to avoid production interruptions.

2. Plant Consumables & Other Purchases

  • Purchase plant consumables, tools, safety items, lubricants, oils, electrical items and other regularly required materials.
  • Coordinate procurement of maintenance items and minor spare parts as per plant requirements.
  • Process urgent purchases whenever required for plant operations.

3. Vendor Management

  • Identify and develop reliable local and regular suppliers.
  • Obtain quotations from multiple vendors and prepare comparative statements.
  • Negotiate prices, credit terms, transportation charges and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers and resolve supply-related issues.

4. Purchase Order & Documentation

  • Prepare and process Purchase Orders as per approved requirements.
  • Maintain quotation, comparative statement, PO and supplier records.
  • Coordinate with Accounts for invoice verification and payment-related queries.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all purchases.

5. Delivery & Logistics Coordination

  • Follow up with vendors for timely delivery of materials.
  • Coordinate with transporters and suppliers regarding vehicle placement and material delivery.
  • Monitor pending orders and ensure materials reach the plant as scheduled.
  • Handle delays, shortages and other delivery issues.

6. Inventory Coordination

  • Coordinate with Stores/Plant personnel to monitor stock levels.
  • Maintain minimum stock levels for critical materials and consumables.
  • Check material requirements before placing orders.
  • Avoid both material shortages and unnecessary excess inventory.

7. Quality Coordination

  • Coordinate with the Quality/Lab team regarding specifications and approval of raw materials.
  • Ensure materials are purchased only from approved/reliable suppliers.
  • Report quality issues to suppliers and coordinate for corrective action or replacement.

8. Cost Control

  • Regularly check market prices of cement, aggregates, sand and other materials.
  • Negotiate competitive rates and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor transportation and delivery costs.
  • Ensure purchases are made within approved budgets and company procedures.

Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of RMC/Concrete Plant procurement.
  • Knowledge of cement, aggregates, sand, admixtures and plant consumables.
  • Strong vendor negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and purchase/ERP software.
  • Ability to handle multiple suppliers and urgent requirements.
  • Good coordination with Plant, Production, Quality, Stores and Accounts departments.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualification

  • Graduate in any discipline.
  • Diploma/B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical or related field will be an advantage.
  • 2–5 years of relevant purchase/procurement experience, preferably in RMC, concrete, construction or infrastructure industry.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timely availability of materials.
  • Purchase cost and cost savings.
  • Vendor performance.
  • Reduction in emergency purchases.
  • Timely delivery of materials.
  • Proper purchase documentation.
  • Inventory optimization.
  • Quality compliance of purchased materials.

Note: For a concrete plant, I recommend making cement, aggregates, sand/M-sand, admixtures and plant consumables the core responsibilities rather than using a generic Purchase Executive JD. This makes the JD much more suitable for recruitment in an RMC/concrete company.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹26,000.00 per month

Benefits:

  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • Flexible schedule
  • Paid sick time
  • Paid time off
  • Provident Fund

Work Location: In person
