About the role

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking an experienced Purchase Manager to join our team in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that plays a strategic role in driving our procurement operations and supply chain excellence. As Purchase Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring optimal inventory levels to support our manufacturing and logistics operations. This role is integral to maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and timely delivery of materials and services across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives and market conditions
• Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards
• Manage purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules, and ensure compliance with agreed terms and conditions
• Analyse market trends, commodity prices, and supply chain risks to optimise procurement decisions
• Oversee inventory management processes, including stock level monitoring and forecasting to balance availability with cost efficiency
• Prepare and manage procurement budgets, track expenditure, and report on cost savings and performance metrics
• Collaborate with internal departments including production, logistics, and finance to ensure seamless supply chain operations
• Implement and maintain procurement policies and procedures in compliance with company standards and legal requirements
• Lead and mentor procurement team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
• Handle expediting, quality issues, and resolve supplier disputes to ensure operational continuity

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement management role, preferably within manufacturing, transport or logistics sectors
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and inventory control principles
• Proven experience in supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and vendor management
• Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and forecasting techniques
• Advanced proficiency in procurement systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and team members
• Demonstrated ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency improvements
• Knowledge of quality standards, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks relevant to procurement
• Project management capabilities with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent procurement qualifications are advantageous
