Purchase Manager

Role & responsibilities

-Develop and re-align organizational sourcing strategy to business objectives

• Monitor purchase costs regularly and ensure costs are maintained as per the defined norms.

• Carry out regular price negotiations with vendors to optimize input costs

• Regularly invite quotations from various vendors for bought out parts and raw material

• Ensure quality of product supplied from vendors is as per defined standards through regular

vendor audits in coordination with quality function

• Monitor vendor quality product reports and take corrective action if required in coordination with

quality

• Ensure development of pipeline of vendors to hedge against failure of supply from preferred

vendor

• Manage and develop vendor relations

• Ensure dispatch of purchase orders to accounts is carried out as per defined Service Level

Agreement for timely payments to vendors

• Coordinate with Engineering & R&D and process engineering for new component development

and ensure identification of supplier for the same

• Ensure monitoring and management of store inventory levels.

• Ensure deployment of 5s in the purchase function

• Initiate kaizen projects as per need to improve departmental functioning and bring in efficiencies

• Ensure preparation of MIS report as per requirements

• Ensure development of subordinates in the essential skills required to perform the job

• Ensure employee grievance are handled with sensitivity and resolved as per defined standards

• Monitor subordinate performance and provide constructive feedback regularly to direct reporting

subordinates and ensure their development

Preferred candidate profile

• Developing and aligning sourcing strategies with business goals

• Driving cost optimization and negotiation with vendors

• Managing RFQs/RFPs and supplier selection processes

• Building contingency supplier pipelines (risk mitigation mindset)
