Purchase Manager ( Electronics Civil Procurement)

Role & responsibilities

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Procurement Professional with 10+ years of experience in purchase, sourcing, vendor development, negotiation and cost optimisation.

The candidate should have strong experience in Electrical, Electronics and Civil Material Procurement, along with exposure to Pan-India sourcing, China sourcing, international procurement and import processes.

This is an ownership-driven role. We are not looking for someone who only handles Purchase Orders. The candidate should independently manage sourcing, vendor development, commercial negotiations, cost control, supplier performance and timely procurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement and purchasing activities.
• Handle Pan-India procurement across multiple categories and locations.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable suppliers, manufacturers and alternate vendors.
• Source electrical, electronics, civil, engineering and project-specific materials.
• Obtain and analyse quotations from multiple suppliers.
• Prepare comparative statements and provide commercial recommendations.
• Negotiate price, payment terms, credit period, MOQ, delivery timelines, warranty and other commercial terms.
• Issue and manage Purchase Orders and ensure timely delivery.
• Monitor supplier performance, quality, pricing and delivery commitments.
• Develop alternate/backup suppliers for critical materials.
• Identify and implement cost-saving and procurement optimisation opportunities.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Production, Stores, Finance and Management teams.
• Maintain vendor databases, procurement records and documentation.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with strategic suppliers and manufacturers.

International / Import Procurement

• Source products and materials from China and other international markets.
• Communicate and negotiate directly with overseas manufacturers/suppliers.
• Knowledge of FOB, CIF, EXW and other Incoterms.
• Handle/coordinate import documentation and procedures.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs agents and logistics partners.
• Track international shipments until final delivery.
• Basic knowledge of HSN/HS Codes, customs duties, GST and import documentation.
• Analyse the landed cost of imported products/materials.

Vendor Development

• Build a strong Pan-India and international vendor network.
• Identify and develop strategic, approved and alternate suppliers.
• Evaluate vendors based on price, quality, capacity, lead time and reliability.
• Develop local suppliers/manufacturing partners wherever commercially beneficial.
• Resolve supplier quality and delivery issues.
• Negotiate and finalise commercial terms with key vendors.

Cost Control & Procurement Optimisation

The candidate should be commercially strong and capable of:

• Achieving competitive purchase prices.
• Benchmarking market prices and supplier quotations.
• Negotiating volume-based and project-based pricing.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Optimising payment and credit terms.
• Analysing total procurement and landed costs.
• Identifying alternate and commercially better suppliers.
• Reducing dependency on single suppliers.
• Improving procurement lead times and efficiency.
• Supporting management in strategic procurement decisions.
