Job Summary

We are looking for a Purchase Assistant to support the procurement team in sourcing and purchasing raw materials, engineering components, consumables, hardware, electrical items, fabrication materials, and other requirements for the manufacturing of rice mill machinery.

The candidate should be comfortable with vendor coordination, market visits, quotation collection, price negotiation, purchase documentation, and follow-up for timely material delivery.

The candidate must have a two-wheeler (bike) and a valid driving licence, as regular travel to vendors, suppliers, markets, and other purchase locations in and around Hyderabad will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Purchase Manager in day-to-day procurement activities.

• Identify and contact new suppliers and vendors based on company requirements.

• Collect quotations from vendors and compare price, quality, specifications, payment terms, and delivery time.

• Visit vendors, suppliers, fabrication units, hardware markets, and other purchase locations for quotations, material verification, and follow-up.

• Coordinate with production, stores, engineering, and accounts departments to understand material requirements.

• Purchase materials such as:

• MS/SS sheets, plates, angles, channels, pipes, and structural materials

• Bearings, shafts, pulleys, sprockets, chains, belts, and other mechanical components

• Motors, gearboxes, electrical components, and control-panel items

• Fasteners, welding electrodes, cutting tools, and consumables

• Hardware, fabrication and machining requirements

• Packaging and general consumable items

• Negotiate with vendors for competitive pricing and favourable delivery terms.

• Prepare and follow up on purchase orders as instructed by the Purchase Manager.

• Track pending purchase orders and ensure materials are delivered as per schedule.

• Coordinate with vendors regarding shortages, damages, quality issues, and delayed deliveries.

• Visit suppliers to inspect or verify materials whenever required.

• Coordinate with the Stores team for material receipt and quantity verification.

• Maintain vendor quotations, purchase records, invoices, delivery details, and other procurement documents.

• Update purchase status and provide regular reports to the Purchase Manager.

• Develop and maintain good working relationships with existing suppliers.

• Assist in identifying alternative suppliers to reduce cost and improve availability.

• Support urgent procurement requirements from the production department.

• Ensure purchases are made according to approved specifications and company requirements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Any Graduate / Diploma preferred.
• 13 years of experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering company.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and engineering materials is preferred.
• Good negotiation and vendor-management skills.
• Good communication and follow-up skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel, Word, email, and purchase documentation.
• Ability to compare quotations and prepare purchase-related reports.
• Willingness to travel locally within Hyderabad for vendor visits.
• Must own a bike/two-wheeler.
• Must possess a valid two-wheeler driving licence.
• Should be willing to travel regularly to suppliers, vendors, markets, and industrial areas.
• Telugu and Hindi communication skills will be an advantage; basic English communication is preferred.
