Job Responsibilities

• Handle sourcing and purchasing of mechanical, electrical, automation and general engineering components for projects.
• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers based on pricing, quality, lead time and delivery terms.
• Review current quotations against historical purchase prices and follow up on any significant price differences.
• Negotiate with suppliers for competitive pricing and better discounts, particularly for bulk quantities and high-value purchases.
• Check part numbers, specifications and quantities against BOMs, drawings and purchase requirements before placing orders.
• Review Purchase Requisition Forms against existing BOMs and ensure any additional items or quantity changes are properly updated in the Company's in-house system before placing orders.
• Ensure online purchases are properly checked and recorded in the Company's in-house system before orders are placed.
• Issue Purchase Orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Plan and prioritize purchases according to project requirements, stock availability and supplier lead times.
• Follow up closely with suppliers on order acknowledgement, delivery schedules and outstanding orders to minimize delays to project schedules.
• Source alternative suppliers and obtain competitive quotations when required.
• Coordinate closely with Engineering, Project, Assembly and other internal teams on purchasing requirements and material availability.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, quotations, pricing and supplier information.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with local and overseas suppliers.
• Support supplier evaluation and cost-saving initiatives.
• Perform other purchasing-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant purchasing/procurement experience, preferably in automation, machinery, manufacturing or engineering industries.
• Experience in sourcing mechanical, electrical or automation components will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with BOMs, Purchase Requisitions and purchasing/ERP systems will be an advantage.
• Good negotiation skills with strong cost awareness.
• Detail-oriented and careful when handling part numbers, specifications, quantities and pricing.
• Proactive, responsible and able to identify and follow up on purchasing matters independently.
• Good communication, coordination and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required, as the role involves regular communication and negotiation with Mandarin-speaking suppliers in China.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-based environment.
