About the role

Ray Tech (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Purchaser to join our dynamic team in Johor Bahru District, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our supply chain operations. As a Purchaser, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials and services that are essential to our manufacturing operations. This role is strategically important to our organisation, as efficient procurement directly impacts our production schedules, cost management, and overall business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors for materials, equipment, and services required by the manufacturing operations
• Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favourable conditions
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain relationships to ensure timely and quality deliveries
• Compare quotations from multiple suppliers and make recommendations for optimal purchasing decisions
• Maintain accurate records of all purchase transactions, invoices, and inventory documentation
• Track delivery schedules and follow up with suppliers to resolve any delays or issues
• Liaise with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements and specifications
• Analyse market trends and commodity prices to identify opportunities for cost reduction
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company standards and regulatory requirements

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within the manufacturing, transport, or logistics sector
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and inventory control
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective supplier relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with procurement software or ERP systems
• Ability to analyse data and prepare reports on purchasing metrics and cost analyses
• Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) is advantageous
• A diploma or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Knowledge of import/export procedures and trade documentation would be beneficial
