About the role

Tong Seng Fabricators Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Purchaser to join our procurement team on a full-time basis in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a crucial position within our Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics operations, where you will play a vital role in sourcing, procuring, and managing materials and supplies that are essential to our fabrication processes. Your strategic purchasing decisions will directly impact our operational efficiency, cost management, and overall business performance. This role requires a proactive individual who can build strong supplier relationships, negotiate effectively, and ensure timely delivery of quality materials to support our production objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery performance criteria
• Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of specifications, quantities, and pricing information
• Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, favourable payment terms, and delivery schedules
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain relationships to ensure consistent quality and on-time delivery
• Track inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to forecast material requirements
• Manage procurement documentation, including quotations, invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements in the purchasing function
• Resolve discrepancies, quality issues, and delivery problems with suppliers promptly and professionally
• Maintain accurate records and provide regular reporting on procurement metrics and supplier performance
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations in all purchasing activities

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management, preferably within the manufacturing or fabrication industry
• Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, procurement systems, and supply chain management principles
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms
• Proficiency in using procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office applications
• Outstanding organisational and time management abilities with capability to manage multiple tasks and suppliers simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective supplier and internal stakeholder engagement
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Relevant qualifications in procurement, supply chain management, or business administration are advantageous
• Experience with inventory control, demand forecasting, and material planning is preferred
