Purchasing Agent

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials and supplies are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain systems and materials management, as well as the ability to negotiate prices and maintain relationships with suppliers. THIS IS AN IN HOUSE POSITION.

Duties

• Conduct sourcing activities to identify and evaluate potential suppliers for various materials.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to ensure the best possible deals for the company.
• Manage inventory levels through effective materials management and production planning.
• Utilize ERP and MRP systems to track orders, manage inventory, and forecast future needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and logistics, to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality or delivery.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information in the company’s ERP database.
• Stay updated on market trends and changes in supply chain dynamics that may affect procurement strategies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing, sourcing strategies, and materials management principles.
• Familiarity enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is highly desirable.
• Experience with production planning and MRP processes is a plus.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers.
• Strong analytical skills to assess pricing trends and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
