Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring all materials, supplies, and services required to support Whirlwind company operations, including manufacturing and facility maintenance needs. This role combines strategic sourcing, vendor management and hands-on coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing across the organization.

Procurement and Sourcing

• Purchase a wide range of company needs, including manufacturing supplies, parts, and building maintenance materials
• Perform routine reordering of standard items
• Source new parts, including identifying substitutes and hardtofind items
• Identify and onboard new vendors as needed

Vendor and Quote Management

• Request and evaluate quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure competitive purchasing
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and resolve issues related to pricing, availability, or quality

Sales and Production Support

• Support the sales team by assisting in part selection and obtaining pricing/quotes
• Collaborate with production departments to understand material requirements and specifications
• Communicate leadtimes from vendors and ensure they align with production schedules.

Order Management and Follow-Up

• Place purchase orders and track open orders through to delivery.
• Resolve discrepancies such as incorrect shipments, damaged goods, or billing issues

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
• 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience
• Strong problemsolving skills, especially in sourcing hardtofind items
• Effective communication and vendor negotiation skills
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office
