Purchasing Analyst, Transformer Logistics

Purchasing Analyst – Transformer Logistics

The Purchasing Analyst will report to the Purchasing Manager.

Support the HICO procurement team and project managers in the purchasing of transformer logistics services within the Product and EPC markets. Support the Sales team at bid stage by providing cost estimates. Create and manage the RFQ process to ensure the purchasing function aligns with the project managers’ timeline and budget. Develop into the liaison between the supplier and HICO project management and procurement teams. Facilitate the qualification of new suppliers where appropriate and engage the project stakeholder team to help determine which suppliers shall be engaged during the RFQ process for their respective projects. Analyze the responses to the RFQ (request for quotation) and summarize the results for the internal HICO project stakeholders. Control the suppliers’ invoice process and documentation requirements to ensure suppliers’ submittal documentation is well received and invoicing is accurate. Support the HICO purchasing team within the logistics and EPC departments regarding documentation control. Contribute to the standardization of the RFQ processes and adherence of suppliers to the HICO project checklist regarding logistics. Participate in, develop, and maintain tools, best practices, reports to support the Procurement Team.

• Support qualification of logistics suppliers
• Monitor suppliers’ performance and participate in scorecard reviews
• Submit cost estimates at bid stage
• Create and track RFQ’s and monitor responses
• Update internal databases with purchasing details (dates, prices, quantities, discounts)
• Maintain transportation tracking spreadsheets
• Conduct market research to identify pricing trends
• Evaluate bids from suppliers and negotiate value for HICO and its customers
• Maintain updated records of invoices and contracts and project closing documents
• Build reports and analyze KPIs within the Purchasing department

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

• This job position can be located in Pittsburgh, PA or Memphis, TN, or fully remote in or nearby those major US ports: Houston, TX, Baltimore, MD
• Travel 10% - 15%
• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or engineering is preferred
• Experience with contracting over-dimensional project cargo transportation solutions with 3PL and freight forwarder service providers is required.
• Knowledge of rail, heavy haul, barge and ocean vessel modes of transportation is required.
• Years Experience: 4-5 years
• Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Teams/Office Suite and SAP.
