What they need

About The Opportunity Newberry Tanks & Equipment is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator to support our purchasing, inventory, and material-planning operations.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy, follows open items through to completion, and communicates potential problems before they impact production. You will help keep materials and purchasing activities moving by ensuring purchase orders are accurate, supplier commitments are tracked, inventory information is maintained, and discrepancies are researched and resolved.

The right person for this position will be comfortable working with suppliers and multiple internal departments, managing changing priorities, and knowing when an issue needs to be escalated.

What You'll Do

  • Create and maintain purchase orders based on approved requisitions, material requirements, and purchasing instructions.
  • Carefully verify item numbers, descriptions, quantities, prices, required dates, suppliers, approvals, and delivery locations before releasing purchase orders.
  • Obtain supplier confirmations and keep confirmed dates, pricing, lead times, order quantities, and other purchasing information accurate and current in Sage 100.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on missing confirmations, upcoming deliveries, past-due orders, shortages, and supplier discrepancies.
  • Expedite materials according to established priorities and communicate potential delays or supply concerns promptly.
  • Provide Material Planning and Operations with clear, timely information regarding supplier commitments, shortages, delays, pricing differences, substitutions, quantity changes, and other potential risks.
  • Support receiving, transfers, inventory adjustments, location changes, usage transactions, cycle counts, and physical inventory activities.
  • Research differences between physical inventory, purchase orders, receipts, inventory transactions, and Sage 100 balances.
  • Assist Accounts Payable with pricing, quantity, receiving, and invoice discrepancies and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, lead-time, order-quantity, and purchasing information.
  • Support Sage IRP/MRP and NETSTOCK activities, including data cleanup, validation, documentation, and testing.
  • Work closely with Material Planning, Operations, Warehouse, Inventory, Engineering, Quality, and Accounts Payable to resolve purchasing and inventory issues.
  • Participate in process improvement, standard work, and cross-training activities.

Required Qualifications What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of purchase orders, supplier confirmations, receipts, inventory transactions, and invoice matching.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong numerical, organizational, recordkeeping, follow-up, and communication skills.
  • Ability to research discrepancies and provide complete, accurate information.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and following through on open items.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when questions, problems, or potential risks need to be raised or escalated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory, warehouse support, or supply-chain support.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience entering and maintaining purchase orders in an ERP system.
  • Experience with Sage 100 and/or NETSTOCK.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role? The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and committed to following through. Strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively across departments are important for success in this role.

Why Join Newberry Tanks & Equipment? At Newberry Tanks & Equipment, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple areas of our manufacturing operation and see how accurate purchasing, supplier coordination, and inventory information directly support our ability to keep production moving.

We are looking for people who value teamwork, accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and doing the job right.
