What they need
Purchasing and Inventory Lead
30 Hours per week based in Amberley and regular visits to our other clinics
Use your eye for detail, calm problem-solving style and strong communication skills to keep our busy mixed-practice veterinary clinics running smoothly.
Are you a highly organised purchasing and inventory professional who enjoys variety, accuracy and working with people? We have an exciting opportunity to take ownership of purchasing and inventory management across our four mixed-practice veterinary clinics. This is a hands-on role where your planning, attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure will directly support our clinical teams, clients and business performance.
Working closely with suppliers, clinic teams, Species Team Leads, Finance and S&B Sales Representatives, you will oversee inventory control, stock forecasting, seasonal ordering and supplier promotions across the business, with a strong focus on our S&B space. You will also work closely with our other purchasing administrator, who handles day to day ordering, with a focus on our Dairy space. No two days will be the same, so you’ll be comfortable balancing priorities, communicating clearly and finding practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you will:
· Manage purchasing, stock levels and inventory processes across multiple clinic locations
· Monitor usage trends, forecast demand and support seasonal stock planning
· Build strong, professional relationships with suppliers and internal teams
· Support accurate reporting, pricing, promotions and commercial decision-making
· Identify opportunities to improve systems, reduce waste and strengthen stock control
We’re looking for someone who brings:
· Proven purchasing, inventory, supply chain or stock management experience
· Outstanding attention to detail and confidence working with numbers, reports and systems
· Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to turn information into action
· Excellent Excel capability
· Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to build trust with a wide range of people
· The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy, fast-paced environment while remaining calm
· A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to improve how things are done
Experience with controlled drug regulations, equipment procurement, cold chain logistics or the animal health sector would be an advantage but is not essential. What matters most is that you are accurate, organised, dependable and confident working with both people and process. Full training will be provided where needed.
This position reports directly to the Finance Manager and works closely with teams across all clinics. You’ll be part of a practical, supportive veterinary environment where good communication, initiative and follow-through are valued.
If you’re looking for a role where your accuracy, initiative and relationship skills will make a genuine difference every day, we’d love to hear from you.
