Purchasing and Logistics Supervisor

About the role

Lead sourcing strategy for construction materials, equipment, and services, including identifying and qualifying international suppliers and manufacturers. Manage the full purchase order lifecycle and coordinate international freight and logistics operations. Supervise purchasing and logistics staff while collaborating with project managers, site supervisors, and engineering teams to align procurement with construction timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sourcing strategy for construction materials, equipment, and services, including identifying and qualifying international suppliers and manufacturers
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with domestic and overseas vendors to optimize cost, quality, and lead times
• Manage the full purchase order lifecycle: requisition review, supplier selection, PO issuance, and order tracking
• Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and performance reviews; maintain an approved vendor list
• Monitor global market trends, currency fluctuations, and commodity pricing to inform purchasing decisions
• Coordinate international freight (ocean, air, and land) including booking shipments, managing freight forwarders, and tracking cargo
• Manage customs clearance, import/export documentation, tariffs, and compliance with trade regulations
• Oversee inbound/outbound logistics to ensure on-time delivery to job sites, aligning with project schedules and milestones
• Supervise purchasing/logistics staff, assigning workload and reviewing performance
• Prepare regular reports on purchasing costs, supplier performance, and logistics KPIs for leadership review

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of experience in purchasing/procurement, with significant exposure to international sourcing
• Proven experience in the construction industry (general contracting, infrastructure, industrial, or related sector)
• Strong knowledge of import/export processes, customs regulations, Incoterms, and international shipping logistics
• Experience negotiating with overseas suppliers and managing multi-currency transactions
• Proficiency with ERP/procurement software (SAP)
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
