About the role

LEC STEEL MANUFACTURING CORP. is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic procurement team in Metro Manila on a full-time basis. This role is fundamental to our supply chain operations, ensuring the seamless acquisition of materials and resources that support our steel manufacturing operations. As a Purchasing Assistant, you will play a vital part in maintaining our competitive edge by facilitating efficient procurement processes, managing vendor relationships, and supporting inventory management initiatives that directly impact our production capabilities and operational efficiency.

What you'll be doing

• Processing purchase orders and requisitions with accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring all documentation is complete and submitted to vendors in a timely manner
• Maintaining and updating inventory records and stock levels across all procurement categories to support production planning and demand forecasting
• Liaising with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotations, delivery schedules, and pricing information to support cost-effective purchasing decisions
• Coordinating with internal departments to understand material requirements, specifications, and delivery timelines for various projects and production runs
• Monitoring delivery schedules and following up with suppliers to ensure on-time receipt of materials and goods
• Assisting with vendor performance evaluation and maintaining records related to quality, delivery, and compliance metrics
• Supporting the preparation of procurement reports and analysis to inform purchasing strategies and cost optimisation initiatives
• Maintaining organised filing systems for purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and other procurement-related documentation
• Assisting with the reconciliation of invoices and purchase orders to ensure accurate accounting and payment processing
• Supporting the development and maintenance of supplier databases and procurement information systems

What we're looking for

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification; diploma or degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is advantageous
• Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or inventory management support role, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with procurement or inventory management software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional language proficiency is a plus
• Attention to detail with strong accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
• Professional demeanour and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Basic knowledge of procurement processes, purchasing principles, and supply chain concepts
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and support senior procurement staff
• Willingness to learn and develop expertise in procurement systems and best practices within the steel manufacturing industry
