Purchasing Assistant (Manufacturing)

Job Summary

The Purchasing Assistant supports the procurement of direct materials used in production and indirect materials needed for factory operations. The role helps ensure materials arrive on time, purchasing records are accurate, and supply issues are raised promptly.

Key Responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions and prepare purchase orders for direct materials, such as raw materials, components, and packaging, and indirect materials, such as maintenance supplies, tools, and office supplies.
• Obtain supplier quotations and prepare price comparisons for review.
• Coordinate with Production Planning, Stores, Quality, and other departments to confirm material requirements and delivery priorities.
• Follow up with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery dates, shortages, and outstanding orders.
• Monitor material availability and escalate potential production disruptions promptly.
• Check purchase orders against delivery orders and invoices, and assist in resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate supplier details, pricing, purchase orders, and procurement records in the company system.
• Assist with supplier performance monitoring, including delivery and quality issues.
• Follow company purchasing procedures and carry out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma or equivalent qualification, preferably in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with both direct and indirect materials and their purchasing requirements.
• Able to read purchase requisitions, follow delivery schedules, and maintain accurate records.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or inventory systems is an advantage.
• Good communication, follow-up, and organisational skills.
• Able to work with production deadlines and manage multiple purchasing requests.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
