Purchasing Clerk

Job Summary          :

·         Ensures that all materials indirect or direct are readily available for use and that these materials are purchased at the best possible price from accredited suppliers through comparison canvassing

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities       :

1. Responsible for the availability of direct and indirect materials
2. Responsible for the stocking of fastmoving materials
3. Responsible for securing the best possible prices for the materials
4. Responsible that all active suppliers are accredited
5. Responsible in maintaining a professional and objective relationship with all suppliers

Scope of Responsibility/Accountability   :

1. Responsible for the availability of direct and indirect materials - Must make sure all materials are ordered and delivered before their intended use

2. Responsible for the stocking of fast moving materials - Must be able to establish a stock position and quantity ordering point for all materials

3.   Responsible for securing the best possible prices for the materials - Must be able to compare prices from at least 3 suppliers to get the best possible price

1. Responsible that all active suppliers are accredited - Must implement a supplier accreditation system and maintain a list of accredited suppliers

2. Responsible in maintaining a professional and objective relationship with all suppliers - Must not accept gifts and gratuities from suppliers without management permission

Competency Requirements:

1. Must be a college graduate
2. Must have good written and oral communication skills
3. Must have a pleasing personality
4. Must have good moral character
