Purchasing Coordinator

Summary of Position

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Procurement Coordinator to join our Purchasing team. This varied role will involve managing stock replenishment requirements, sourcing products for customer enquiries and working with suppliers to achieve the right balance of cost, quality, availability and lead time.

You will build effective supplier relationships, help resolve supply and quality issues, and support the identification of new products and alternative sources of supply. You will also provide guidance to the Purchasing Administrator on more complex purchase order, supplier confirmation and delivery issues.

This is a great opportunity for either a science graduate looking to begin a career in procurement or someone with existing purchasing or supply chain experience who is ready to develop their sourcing and supplier-management skills.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage stock replenishment requirements to help meet customer demand.
• Source products and evaluate supplier quotations for restocks, non-stock items and customer enquiries.
• Make commercially informed purchasing recommendations based on cost, quality, availability and lead time.
• Provide the Purchasing Administrator with accurate information to support purchase order creation.
• Support the resolution of complex purchase orders, supplier confirmation and delivery issues.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with existing and prospective suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and support improvement actions where required.
• Investigate supplier related non-conformances and quality deviations, working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to agree appropriate actions.
• Support the identification of new products and alternative sources of supply.
• Identify opportunities to improve sourcing, restocking and supplier management processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

• Degree in Chemistry, Life Science or a relevant discipline, or equivalent procurement or supply chain experience.
• Good commercial judgement and the ability to compare purchasing options.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.

Desirable

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing or supply chain.
• Experience using SAP Business One or a similar ERP/MRP system.

Pay: Up to £27,000.00 per year
