Purchasing Engineer

Our client is a leading manufacturer of aluminium heat exchangers for automotive Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.

The Purchasing Engineer will be responsible for supplier sourcing and development, managing procurement activities, supporting new product launches, and driving cost-reduction initiatives. The role will also ensure purchasing activities and supplier performance comply with applicable international quality and environmental standards, including IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.

Responsibilities:

• Source and evaluate new raw material suppliers to support existing operations and future projects.
• Manage supplier development activities for new product introductions, including the review and verification of APQP and PPAP documentation.
• Negotiate and manage supplier contracts in accordance with global purchasing policies and business requirements.
• Lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives to identify and implement cost optimisation opportunities.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and performance reviews to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
• Prepare purchasing reports and support procurement data analysis to monitor supplier and purchasing performance.
• Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 management systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably within a Tier 1 supplier environment.
• Minimum 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical and engineering drawings.
• Good knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, and automotive quality systems.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
