Purchasing Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate suppliers for engineering materials, equipment, spare parts, tools, and technical services.
• Review purchase requisitions, technical specifications, drawings, and other procurement requirements.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and other departments to understand technical and operational requirements.
• Prepare and process Requests for Quotation (RFQs), canvass suppliers, and evaluate quotations.
• Compare supplier quotations based on price, quality, technical compliance, delivery lead time, and payment terms.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
• Ensure that purchased materials and equipment comply with approved technical specifications and company standards.
• Coordinate with suppliers regarding product availability, delivery schedules, documentation, and technical concerns.
• Monitor purchase orders and follow up on deliveries to ensure timely completion.
• Assist in evaluating and qualifying new suppliers and contractors.
• Maintain an updated supplier database and procurement records.
• Work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance teams to identify suitable technical alternatives and cost-effective solutions.
• Assist in resolving issues involving defective, incomplete, or non-conforming materials and equipment.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable safety and quality requirements.
• Prepare procurement reports, supplier comparisons, and other documentation as required.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Preferably with experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, engineering, maintenance, or supply chain operations.
• Experience in purchasing technical materials, equipment, spare parts, or industrial supplies is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of engineering materials, equipment, tools, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of supplier sourcing, quotation evaluation, negotiation, and purchase order processes.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience with ERP/procurement systems is an advantage.
• Willing to coordinate with suppliers and conduct supplier visits when necessary.
• Willing to work in a fast-paced environment and coordinate with multiple departments.
