Purchasing Executive

Key responsibilities

• Source and purchase raw materials, metals, engineering components, tooling, cutting tools, consumables and other production requirements.
• Source suitable suppliers and obtain competitive quotations for materials, components and subcontracted services.
• Evaluate and compare supplier quotations based on price, lead time, quality, technical compliance, payment terms and delivery requirements.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules and other purchasing conditions with suppliers.
• Issue purchase orders and ensure purchasing documentation is complete and accurate.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders and follow up closely with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Production to understand material specifications, quantities, delivery requirements and project priorities.
• Work with Quality to address supplier quality issues and ensure purchased materials and components meet required specifications.
• Coordinate with Warehouse on material availability, incoming deliveries and purchasing requirements.
• Support urgent and project-critical material requirements and resolve supply, delivery and purchasing issues promptly.

Requirements

• Diploma / Higher Nitec / Nitec in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business, Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering or a related discipline.
• Preferably 2–5 years of purchasing experience within precision engineering, manufacturing or a related technical environment.
• Experience sourcing metals, engineering materials, tooling, cutting tools, industrial components or machining/fabrication services will be an advantage.
• Able to interpret basic engineering drawings, material specifications and technical purchasing requirements.
• Strong negotiation, supplier-management, communication and coordination skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/purchasing systems.
• Good command of English. Ability to communicate with Chinese-speaking suppliers will be an advantage where required for supplier coordination.
• Organized, responsible and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple purchasing requirements and priorities.
• Able to work independently and respond effectively to changing production and project requirements.
