Purchasing Executive

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchasing Executive to join the team at ARMOR METAL PRECISION SDN. BHD. This is a full-time position based in the Batu Pahat District, Johor. As a Purchasing Executive, you will play a crucial role in managing the procurement function, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services essential to our manufacturing operations. This position is strategically important to our supply chain management and directly impacts our operational efficiency and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Identifying, evaluating and selecting suitable suppliers and vendors based on quality, cost, reliability and service standards
• Negotiating purchase terms, prices, delivery schedules and payment conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal value
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring all specifications and requirements are clearly communicated
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with operations teams to ensure adequate stock availability without excess holdings
• Tracking and expediting orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolving any delivery delays or discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate records of purchases, suppliers and procurement transactions for audit and compliance purposes
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and vendors to support long-term business objectives
• Analysing market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
• Liaising with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and providing support for special requests
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and relevant regulations in all procurement activities

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field
• 2-4 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably in the manufacturing sector and experience in purchasing Chemicals and metal.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships effectively
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Knowledge of supply chain management principles and inventory control practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving procurement challenges
• Familiarity with quality standards and compliance requirements in manufacturing is advantageous
