Purchasing Executive - Construction

About the role

A purchasing/procurement role within the construction industry, responsible for sourcing construction materials and suppliers, managing quotations, negotiating terms, and coordinating material delivery across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Source suitable suppliers and construction materials
• Request, evaluate and compare supplier quotations
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules
• Prepare and follow up Purchase Orders (PO)
• Carry out quantity take-off for material purchasing
• Check material requirements against BOQ and drawings
• Coordinate material delivery with Project, QS and Site Teams
• Monitor outstanding orders and ensure on-time delivery
• Maintain proper records for quotations, PO, DO and invoices
• Develop and maintain a reliable supplier database

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' experience in purchasing/procurement within the construction industry
• SPM / Diploma / Degree in Quantity Surveying (QS) or related field
• Good knowledge of construction materials, pricing and suppliers
• Strong sourcing, quotation comparison and negotiation skills
• Able to perform quantity take-off from construction drawings
• Able to read and understand BOQ, specifications and construction drawings
• Familiar with Civil, Structural, Architectural and M&E materials
• Good numerical skills and careful with quantities, rates and figures
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and purchasing documentation
• Good document control, record keeping and filing
