Purchasing Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing for our F&B and culinary operations in Kuala Lumpur. You will manage sourcing, supplier relationships, cost control and stores. You will also make sure all purchasing meets halal compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage the approved supplier list across all F&B categories
• Write purchase specifications with the Executive Chef, and run yield tests and product tastings
• Set par levels and stock controls, and maintain the item master and price lists
• Keep halal documentation for every supplier and item, and support JAKIM audits
• Run daily ordering, receiving and stores operations, including banquet purchasing
• Negotiate pricing, terms and service levels to protect food cost
• Maintain purchasing procedures, controls and segregation of duties
• Lead and coach the Purchasing Clerk and Storekeeper

Requirements

• Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or a related field. A strong F&B purchasing track record is accepted in place of a degree.
• At least 5 years in F&B purchasing, including 2–3 years leading the function in a hotel, resort, restaurant group or catering operation
• Certification in relevant procurement training preferred.
• Hands-on experience handling purchasing for a JAKIM halal-certified kitchen
• Pre-opening experience is an advantage
• An established supplier network in KL and the Klang Valley
• Kitchen literate: comfortable discussing cuts, grades, yields and pack formats with chefs
• Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets and in procurement or inventory systems.
• Good in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia. Knowledge in other language is an advantage.

Pay: From RM5,000.00 per month
