We are recruiting for this position on behalf of our client, a leader in robotics and intelligent optical systems.

Role Overview

We're looking for a Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing operations and supplier management across NPI and production. This role owns everything from MRP and shortage resolution to supplier negotiations, ECN-driven material changes, and buyer performance — working closely with Planning, Engineering, Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Program Management to keep material flowing and production on track.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily purchasing activities including NPI and production requirement which include MRP, shortage follow up and prioritization
• Manage and source suppliers for key components, including electronic, packaging and consumable parts
• Negotiate pricing, lead time, MOQ, payment terms, delivery terms, and other commercial conditions with suppliers
• Monitor supplier delivery performance, capacity, material shortages, and supply risks; drive recovery plans when supply issues occur
• Coordinate internally with Planning, Engineering, Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Program Management to resolve material issues affecting production
• Support NPI, pilot runs, and production ramp-up by ensuring material readiness according to project schedules
• Manage supplier changes, material phase-in/phase-out, ECN-related purchasing activities, liability, and excess/OBS materials
• Establish and maintain purchasing procedures, approval controls, supplier records, and purchasing documentation
• Review Buyer performance, supplier evaluation, and purchasing priorities
• Deliver regular management reports
• Set up KPIs

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with a track record of leading purchasing operations (not just executing) in an electronics, hardware, or manufacturing environment
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing setting involving both NPI and ongoing production
• Proven ability to negotiate commercial terms with suppliers at a strategic level (pricing, contracts, MOQ, payment/delivery terms)
• Experience overseeing or directly managing buyers, including performance review and priority-setting
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience building KPIs and management-level reporting
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence and align stakeholders across Engineering, Quality, Production, and Program Management
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems
• Based in or willing to relocate to Austin (Hutto) and able to work onsite

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP experience is a plus
