About the role

QMPP (Qingda Maspion Paper Products) is seeking a talented Purchasing Mandarin Speaker to join our procurement team. This is a full-time position based in Sidoarjo, East Java, and represents a key opportunity to drive our purchasing operations and strengthen our supplier relationships, particularly with our Mandarin-speaking partners.

As Purchasing Mandarin Speaker, you will play a crucial role in managing procurement activities, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring cost-effective sourcing of materials and services. Your fluency in Mandarin will be essential in communicating with our Chinese suppliers and partners, making you an invaluable asset to our organisation. This position directly supports our operational efficiency and business growth objectives.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and select suppliers, ensuring quality standards and competitive pricing
• Negotiate purchasing agreements, contracts and terms with suppliers, particularly those requiring Mandarin communication
• Manage purchase orders, including creation, tracking and follow-up to ensure timely delivery
• Maintain accurate records of purchasing transactions, inventory levels and supplier performance metrics
• Liaise with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements and specifications
• Monitor market trends and commodity prices to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including Mandarin-speaking vendors
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
• Conduct supplier audits and quality inspections to maintain standards
• Prepare purchasing reports and analysis for management review

What we're looking for

• Mandarin language proficiency: Fluent in Mandarin (both written and spoken) is essential for this role
• Purchasing experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain management
• Supplier negotiation skills: Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and achieve favourable commercial terms
• Knowledge of paper and packaging industry: Experience in paper products, manufacturing or related industries is highly preferred
• Attention to detail: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple suppliers and purchase orders simultaneously
• Communication skills: Excellent communication abilities in both Mandarin and English, with strong interpersonal skills
• Computer proficiency: Competency in using ERP systems, Microsoft Excel and other procurement software
• Problem-solving ability: Capacity to resolve supply chain issues and adapt to changing circumstances
• Knowledge of international trade: Understanding of import/export procedures and documentation is advantageous
