Purchasing Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Purchasing Officer to join Idelux Engineering Pte. Ltd. This is a full-time position based in the Bukit Batok West Region. As Purchasing Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing the procurement operations for our company, ensuring we secure high-quality materials and services at competitive prices whilst maintaining strong supplier relationships. This position is integral to our supply chain operations and directly impacts our operational efficiency and cost management objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Identifying and sourcing suppliers of materials, equipment and services required for operational needs
• Preparing detailed purchase orders and negotiating terms, pricing and delivery schedules with suppliers
• Evaluating supplier quotations and conducting cost-benefit analysis to ensure value for money
• Maintaining and updating the supplier database with current pricing, payment terms and performance metrics
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with relevant departments to forecast procurement requirements
• Tracking purchase orders through delivery and verifying receipt of goods against specifications and quantities ordered
• Processing invoices and resolving discrepancies between purchase orders, delivery notes and supplier invoices
• Liaising with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and timelines
• Maintaining accurate purchasing records and documentation in compliance with company policies
• Assisting in the development and implementation of procurement procedures and cost reduction initiatives

What we're looking for

• GCE O-levels or equivalent qualification, with preference for additional qualifications in procurement or supply chain management
• Proven experience of 1 year working in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within the engineering sector
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms whilst maintaining positive supplier relationships
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and familiarity with procurement systems or enterprise resource planning software
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple purchase orders simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing procurement documentation
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages is advantageous
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier quality management and cost control principles
• Familiarity with import and export procedures would be beneficial
