We are looking for a motivated and organised Purchasing Officer to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with suppliers, managing purchasing requirements, coordinating overseas orders and ensuring the right stock is available at the right time.

The successful applicant will play an important role in maintaining our supply chain and working closely with our overseas suppliers to ensure products are ordered, manufactured and delivered efficiently.

About the Role

Working closely with our management, sales, warehouse and customer service teams, you will be responsible for coordinating purchasing activities across our local and overseas supply network.

A key part of the role will involve liaising directly with overseas suppliers and manufacturers, monitoring production and shipping timelines, negotiating where appropriate and ensuring purchasing decisions align with stock requirements and business demand.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the purchasing of products from local and overseas suppliers
  2. Liaise regularly with overseas suppliers and manufacturers regarding orders, production and delivery timeframes
  3. Prepare and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of quantities, pricing and product details
  4. Monitor stock levels and assist with forecasting future purchasing requirements
  5. Manage supplier lead times, minimum order quantities (MOQs) and batch requirements
  6. Track overseas orders from placement through to delivery
  7. Follow up suppliers regarding production delays, shipping issues and outstanding orders
  8. Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records
  9. Communicate expected delivery dates and stock availability to relevant internal departments
  10. Identify potential supply issues early and work proactively to minimise stock shortages
  11. Assist with supplier pricing, product costs and purchasing negotiations
  12. Work with management on new product sourcing and product development opportunities
  13. Monitor supplier performance, quality and reliability
  14. Build and maintain strong relationships with key overseas and local suppliers
  15. Assist with improving purchasing processes and supply chain efficiency

Skills & Experience

  1. Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or inventory management
  2. Min 5 years experience dealing directly with overseas suppliers and manufacturers highly regarded
  3. Strong organisational and time-management skills
  4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  6. Ability to manage multiple orders, suppliers and deadlines simultaneously
  7. Good understanding of stock management, lead times and purchasing requirements
  8. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
  9. Ability to identify potential supply issues and take proactive action
  10. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  11. Experience within the tiling, construction, building products or hardware industries will be highly regarded

The Person We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and takes ownership of their responsibilities.

You will need to be comfortable picking up the phone or communicating directly with overseas suppliers, following up when things don't go to plan and ensuring issues are resolved rather than simply passed on.

The successful applicant will have a strong eye for detail, excellent follow-through and the ability to build positive long-term relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

What We Offer

  1. Opportunity to join a respected and growing Australian business
  2. A varied role with responsibility across purchasing and supply chain
  3. Direct involvement with international suppliers and manufacturers
  4. Opportunities to be involved in new product sourcing and development
  5. Supportive team environment
  6. Long-term career growth within the business
  7. Potential overseas travel and supplier visits as the role develops

If you are an organised and proactive purchasing professional who enjoys working with suppliers, managing stock requirements and being part of a growing business, we would love to hear from you.
