Purchasing Officer ( Mechanics )

About the role

GPV Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Purchasing Officer to join our procurement team. This is a full-time position based in Samut Prakan, Thailand. As a Purchasing Officer, you will play a vital role in our supply chain operations, responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing inventory for our manufacturing and logistics operations. This position is essential to ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services that support our business objectives.

Key responsibilities

1. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliability
2. Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures
3. Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and payment conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal value
4. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to maintain appropriate stock
5. Track shipments and expedite deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule
6. Conduct quality inspections of received goods and address any discrepancies or issues with suppliers
7. Maintain detailed records of purchases, invoices, and supplier communications
8. Liaise with internal departments to understand material requirements and forecast demand
9. Assist in cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for procurement efficiency
10. Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company standards and regulatory requirements

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in manufacturing or logistics sectors
2. Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices
3. Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships
4. Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications
5. Attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage multiple purchase orders simultaneously
6. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
8. Knowledge of import/export procedures and customs documentation is advantageous
9. Fluency in English and Thai languages is preferred
