Job Description – Purchasing Sourcing Staff (Mechanical)

Responsibilities:

• Source, assess, and evaluate potential new suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Manage supplier onboarding process, including documentation, compliance, and initial qualification.
• Conduct material cost analysis and manage material cost structures to ensure cost effectiveness and competitiveness.
• Lead and support material cost reduction (cost down) initiatives through supplier negotiation, alternative sourcing, and value engineering collaboration.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal engineering teams and external suppliers regarding technical specifications and sourcing requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum requirement: able to read and understand engineering drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Strong communication skills to liaise with engineering teams and suppliers.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes for metal parts and plastic parts.
• Basic knowledge of sourcing, supplier evaluation, and cost analysis is an advantage.
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and cost-conscious mindset.
• Fluent in English is a must have requirement.
