Purchasing Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Supervisor to join PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park in Jakarta on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position within our procurement operations that plays a vital role in supporting our mining and resources operations. As Purchasing Supervisor, you will oversee purchasing activities, manage supplier relationships, and ensure efficient procurement processes that align with our operational and financial objectives. This role reports to the Procurement Manager and is essential to maintaining the continuity and cost-effectiveness of our supply chain operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily purchasing activities to ensure timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for mining operations

• Responsible for the end-to-end procurement of nickel ore commodities, including liaising with mines and suppliers, conducting inquiries, price comparisons, and commercial negotiations, as well as drafting and finalizing procurement contracts.

• Oversee the full contract execution process, including cargo ownership transfer, delivery, inspection, and settlement.

• Monitor goods upon arrival at the port or factory for acceptance, and complete supplier evaluation, document archiving, and data consolidation.

• Continuously optimize procurement processes, identify high-quality nickel ore sources, and maintain strong supplier relationships.Willing to accept overseas assignments and business travel; capable of conducting on-site surveys and field inspections at mining sites across Indonesia, as well as visiting upstream and downstream clients.

• Supervise and mentor junior purchasing staff, providing guidance and training on procurement best practices

• Liaise with internal departments to understand procurement needs and provide timely solutions

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership capacity
• Demonstrated experience in mining, resources, or industrial operations procurement
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and inventory control
• Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English is a must, and Mandarin is preferred.
• Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in Indonesia
• Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Experience with cost analysis and budget management is highly desirable
• Knowledge of mining operations and industry-specific procurement requirements is preferred
