Python Architect

Role & responsibilities

• Design and define scalable, secure and high-performance software architectures using Python and modern backend technologies.
• Lead the architecture and development of enterprise-grade Python applications, APIs and microservices.
• Translate business and technical requirements into robust solution and system architectures.
• Define technical standards, architecture principles, design patterns and best practices for Python development.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Evaluate and select appropriate Python frameworks such as Django, Flask and FastAPI based on business and technical requirements.
• Design highly scalable, fault-tolerant and high-availability backend systems.
• Lead the modernization and migration of legacy applications toward cloud-native and microservices architectures.
• Design and integrate databases, caching systems, message queues and third-party services.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, security, data and product teams to deliver end-to-end technology solutions.
• Drive cloud architecture and deployment across AWS, Azure or GCP environments.
• Establish best practices for CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps.
• Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews and technical assessments to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Define application security practices including authentication, authorization, encryption and secure API design.
• Establish automated testing practices using unit testing, integration testing, Pytest and test automation frameworks.
• Create architecture documentation, technical specifications, system diagrams and implementation guidelines.
• Mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership on complex development initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend tools and frameworks that improve engineering productivity.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to align technical architecture with business objectives.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in Python development, backend engineering, software architecture or solution architecture.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python and experience building enterprise-scale applications.
• Extensive experience with Django, Flask, FastAPI or other Python frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Excellent understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, system design and software architecture principles.
• Experience with databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis and other SQL/NoSQL technologies.
• Strong experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar messaging and event-streaming technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience designing scalable, highly available and fault-tolerant systems.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, API security, authentication, authorization and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with performance optimization, monitoring, logging and production troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing, Pytest, unit testing, integration testing and code quality practices.
• Experience leading technical projects, conducting architecture reviews and mentoring engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Python or cloud architecture certifications are advantageous.
