Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced cisco SD-WAN Test Automation Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Python, PyATS/Genie, and Pytest to join our network validation team in Bangalore. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute automated test suites to validate complex Cisco SD-WAN features, control plane functions, and L2/L3 networking protocols. You will work closely with development and deployment teams to ensure enterprise-grade network software quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Automation Framework Development: Design, build, and enhance scalable test automation frameworks using Python, PyATS/Genie, and Pytest.
• SD-WAN & Network Testing: Plan and execute functional, performance, regression, and system-level test cases for SD-WAN controllers, edge devices, and virtual network functions (VNFs).
• Protocol Validation: Perform thorough automation testing on L2/L3 networking protocols (switching, routing, and overlay/underlay networks).
• End-to-End Test Lifecycle: Take ownership of test execution, detailed log analysis, defect triage, and automated reporting.
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test scripts into continuous integration pipelines to facilitate automated regression testing.
• Collaboration: Partner with software developers, system architects, and field teams to resolve defects and refine technical specifications.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

Core Skill Set

• Network Automation: Hands-on experience with PyATS (Genie framework) for network parsing, baseline testing, and test automation execution.
• Python Development: Strong expertise in Python programming, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, and custom module development for test harnesses.
• Testing Frameworks: In-depth working experience with Pytest for structuring, parameterizing, and running complex automated test suites.
• Layer 2 / Layer 3 Protocols: Deep understanding and testing experience in:
• L2: Ethernet, VLANs, L2-VPN, MAC learning, STP/RSTP.
• L3: IP Routing, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, GRE, IPsec.
• SD-WAN Architecture: Understanding of SD-WAN concepts, control/data plane separation, WAN optimization, IPsec tunnels, zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), and overlay routing.

Qualifications

• Education: B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or a related technical field.
• Work Experience: 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in networking test automation.
