A leading Japanese tech giant is seeking a Software Engineer in Tokyo to lead the technical direction and scalability of key translation APIs. Joining an elite AI Services department, the engineer will collaborate with engineering teams across Asia to build high-performance, secure, and data-driven solutions powering millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of scalable RESTful web services and backend applications ensuring seamless operational continuity.
• Architect automated Python and Bash scripts to streamline system workflows, boost operational efficiency, and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with global cross-functional Agile teams (Japan, India, Singapore) and QA to accelerate deployment cycles and product quality.
• Proactively debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues to maintain high-availability API operations.
• Author comprehensive documentation covering configurations, architecture, and deployment procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing across international teams.

Requirements

• Current Residency: Must currently reside in Japan with valid work authorization.
• Core Engineering: Advanced Python programming for RESTful web services and solid proficiency in Unix/Linux command-line tools and Bash scripting.
• Frontend & Web: Hands-on experience in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for web applications (React.js experience preferred).
• Containerization & Orchestration: Proven experience with Docker image creation, container management, and Kubernetes deployment.
• Agile & API Security: Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, API gateway security practices, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

Desired Skills

• Hands-on experience deploying machine learning models and frameworks into production environments.
• Practical knowledge of backend engineering using Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven track record in automated testing and building modern continuous delivery pipelines.
