Python Engineer (AI/LLM)

Working Hours: Monday – Thursday (8.30am – 6pm), Friday (8.30am – 5.30pm) (Hybrid working arrangement)

Salary Package: Up to $10,000 + AWS
Employment Type: Full Time Contract (1 year renewable with chances of conversion)

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable backend services, APIs and data-processing capabilities. You will work closely with product managers, engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure and production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python.
• Manage backend feature development across design, implementation, testing, deployment and production support.
• Build integrations with internal platforms, external systems and third-party services.
• Develop AI-powered backend capabilities, including document ingestion, retrieval and knowledge-processing services.
• Build and maintain reliable data-processing pipelines.
• Work with relational and non-relational databases to support scalable and resilient systems.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability, observability and performance.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain best practices across testing, CI/CD, security and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, UX and external partner teams.
• Contribute to improvements in platform architecture and developer experience.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of backend software engineering experience in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and token-based authentication.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with production troubleshooting and operational support.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines and modern software-development workflows.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across different teams.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript or Node.js would be advantageous.
• Exposure to LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases or prompt engineering would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with document-processing pipelines, including text extraction, chunking, embeddings and metadata management.
