QA Director
Location: Ayutthaya, Thailand
Our client
Our client is a leading global manufacturer of precision motors, motion control solutions, and industrial automation technologies. With operations spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas, the company serves a diverse range of industries including automotive, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, home appliances, and energy solutions.
The organization is recognized for its strong engineering capabilities, commitment to innovation, and continuous investment in advanced manufacturing technologies. In Thailand, the company operates large-scale manufacturing facilities that play a strategic role in supporting regional and global customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer quality, process quality and supplier quality across both Nidec Electronics factories, with direct accountability to the President. Provide leadership to the two Senior Managers responsible broadly for Customer QA and Supplier QA, and build capability through the Manager, Assistant Manager and staff levels.
- Act as the senior customer-facing quality leader and coordinate closely with upstream Nidec Group companies, including through supplier-quality audits, cross-company quality reviews and resolution of supplier-related quality matters.
- Establish early detection of abnormalities through quality KPIs, process data, automated inspection data and SPC monitoring, supported by clear thresholds for escalation, containment and management intervention.
- Lead structured root-cause analysis, standardize corrective and preventive actions across manufacturing processes, and verify that implemented countermeasures are effective and sustained.
- Strengthen controls, governance and data integrity so inappropriate quality practices, including data manipulation, cannot recur.
- Drive cross-functional problem solving with production, engineering, purchasing and other relevant functions to resolve quality and delivery constraints, assign clear ownership and ensure agreed recovery actions are completed.
- Lead customer audits, quality reviews and major claims, ensuring rapid containment, fact-based communication and transparent escalation of unfavorable findings, risks and recovery status to management.
- Develop quality talent and embed consistent application of 8D, DMAIC, FMEA, MSA, Control Plan and statistical quality methods across the QA organization and relevant operating functions.
Qualifications:
- Approximately 12 or more years of QA/QC experience in manufacturing, ideally within electronics, precision components, automotive parts or another high-volume production environment.
- Experience as a Quality Manager, Quality Director or equivalent, with the leadership maturity to operate at Director level; an exceptional candidate may be considered for appointment at Senior Director level.
- Broad experience across customer, process and supplier quality, including direct customer interaction, customer audits, supplier-quality reviews and management of serious quality incidents.
- Hands-on expertise in structured problem solving and quality-improvement methodologies, including 8D, DMAIC, SPC, FMEA, MSA, Control Plan, Cpk and process-capability analysis.
- Practical experience with established quality-management systems such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Experience using automated inspection, process-data capture, SPC monitoring and data-integrity controls to detect abnormalities and support timely escalation.
- Ability to conduct quality and technical discussions in English with customers, senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
- A proven record of strengthening quality systems, governance and organizational culture in an established manufacturing environment.
- Experience introducing external benchmarks and proven practices constructively, balancing firmness on quality principles with a pragmatic approach that gains the support of long-tenured teams.
